The advantages of MBGO capacitors are that they have good performance capacitance and nominal voltage with small sizes, long service life and the ability to recover after a breakdown - when a short circuit occurs at certain points in the winding, the short circuit current melts and partially evaporates the thin metal in the breakdown zone as a result which layers of the winding become isolated from each other.
The disadvantage of capacitors is low insulation resistance, and accordingly a high leakage current. It is undesirable to use these capacitors with a nominal voltage close to the circuit voltage.
